A Life Decision – Yours

As we travel down this road called life, we have many decisions we must make. Some are simple decisions, like what cereal do we eat for breakfast, what pants and shirt do we wear today, at what gas station do we purchase fuel, and more.

Some are more important like what college should I attend? What career am I to have? In what ministry will I serve?

Some decisions are even more important than where we will serve and what career field we are in. And one of the biggest decisions we will ever make is to whom we will be married and spend the rest of our lives together?

All of these decisions are BIG decisions but yet the BIGGEST decision is, where will I spend my eternity? The most important decision in life is often the decision that is thought about the least. We think, well I have plenty of time to decide where I am bound. We all want to go to heaven when we die.

But the only way to get there is through Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says that, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." You say, I am not as bad as my neighbor. He is really bad. Or you may be far worse than anyone knows. Either way it does not matter; you are still guilty before God.

You see, God is perfect, always right, and good. He cannot tolerate sin. He cannot simply overlook the fact that we have chosen to disobey Him. It is not possible, in His perfection.

The Bible says in Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death." That means the fair payment for our sin is death — eternal separation from God. I am glad the verse does not stop there. Romans 6:23 goes on to say, "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

You see, Jesus is the one and only son of God. He came to earth and lived a sinless life. He was crucified for our sins. Because the Bible says that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. God, in His love and mercy, sent Christ to earth to allow Him to die for our sins. God loved you and me so much that He chose to allow His only son to be our sacrifice, and if we would simply trust in Christ, we can have eternal life with Him in heaven.

I'm glad I can tell you that Christ did not remain dead, HE ROSE AGAIN! Because He rose again, we have a living Savior. Because He rose again, we can accept Him as our Savior.

To do that, you must first admit that you are a sinner. Because Christ came to save sinners, you can be saved by asking for forgiveness of your sins — if you are willing to repent of your sin. He is waiting to forgive you. It does not matter what you have done in the past because the blood of Christ can cover it all. He will not reject you.

The word repent literally means "to turn away from" so if you truly repent and ask God for forgiveness, He promises to forgive you.

True Christianity is not about attending a church, or how your parents raised you, or what denomination you belong to, or what country you were born in. Being a Christian means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that He is your Savior. It is not good enough that your pastor, or mother, or father, brother, sister, or any other relative or friend has made the decision to become a Christian. It is your decision alone. They cannot become a Christian for you. You must repent for yourself.

You can do that right where you are. God will hear you and forgive your sin right there where you are sitting at this very moment. You say, I don't know how to pray and ask forgiveness. Well you can simply say a prayer like this, truly meaning it from a repentant heart:

"Jesus I know I have sinned against you. The truth is, that I have sinned of my own decision, and I am responsible for the sins I have committed. I know, that because of those sins, that your word says that I have earned the punishment of death, eternal separation from you, Jesus. I believe you died in my place and I now accept the free gift of eternal life with you. Please come into my heart and save my soul.

I am relying totally on you to cover my sin and take it away. You are the only one that can save me. I reject my sin and turn away from it. I repent. Help me live a life pleasing to you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus name, Amen."

My friend, if you said that prayer with a repent heart, then YOU ARE SAVED! You are a new creature. Welcome to the Family of God.

If you have made the decision to accept Christ as your Savior, then drop me a line so that I may rejoice with you in your New Life.

God Bless you,
